In fact it was his articles on the Omega Co-axial (along with reading George Daniels's Watchmaking from cover to cover) that pushed me into buying one of the early ruthenium dialled ones. It's a purchase I've never regretted.
This is a fine gesture and adds significant value to scholarship in our hobby. It has been difficult to access a lot of Walt’s writing, due to broken links and other internet shortcomings. Thanks for making the effort!
I came across him when I was looking into getting a Rolex Explorer 14270. Then I googled his name and found out he has a website with his email listed. So I emailed him then spoke to him on the phone, and then connected him to Allen for his podcast at that time
A lovely hommage for a man before my time in the watch world. I have only dipped a toe by reading his review of the “original” JLC MUT and the time he takes to review every element inside the watch is remarkable. He seemed to have really admired what he saw on that unassuming reference and I’m thankful for his articulation of the challenges presented by designing a (truly) ultra thin watch.
I wonder what he’s think of contemporary calibers - with JLC seemingly using the same calibres across their collections.

His article on the Chopard LUC Caliber 1.96 got me into Chopard. His writings were always high quality at a depth beyond everyone else.
